Built In’s Best Places to Work

Nominations now closed

This awards program gives recognition to companies who offer the best compensation packages, total rewards and culture programs among their peers. Unlike other award programs, instead of a nomination form, an algorithm determines winners based on the offerings that employers showcase through Built In Company Profiles. Any company in the U.S. can nominate themselves – at no cost.

We recognize the best companies for tech professionals, which helps you attract and retain the best employees. The list of winners is used by the millions of candidates who visit our sites monthly to find employers of choice.

Winners will be announced in January 2025.

how winners are determined

What We Look For

Best Places to Work winners are determined using an algorithm that assesses the perks and benefits information and salaries that an employer submits to us. Each of these categories represent 50 percent of a company’s assessment. We do not assess any other factors beyond the information employers provide to us in this program.

The rewards your company offers, which are shown in the Perks + Benefits section of your Company Profile, are calculated into a score by our algorithm, which represents 50 percent of your overall consideration of being a winner. Each reward is weighted based on which perks and benefits candidates care about the most.

For compensation, we look at the median percentile for all salaries entered for your company (need to submit five to be eligible for BPTW) and compare that to the rest of the companies in our database. We do not look at individual salaries, nor do we publicly list individual salary information for specific positions at companies.

Salary information is fully anonymous and is not tied to your company in any way publicly.

Your Total Employee Headcount and Office Location information factor into what lists your company will be considered for.

Your headcount information determines if you will be considered for our Startup, Midsize or Large lists. And your Office Locations listed on your Builtin.com profile, information will determine what city lists you will be considered for. If you have office locations or a large presence in more than one of these locations, you are not limited to only applying for one list.

To be considered for our remote list, your ‘Workplace Type’ within your national company profile must be marked as ‘Remote’. To be considered for both a remote list and location-based lists, your ‘Workplace Type’ must be marked as ‘Remote’ and you must have office locations listed on your Builtin.com profile.

If chosen as a winner, your Company Description and Image will be shown to candidates as a representation of your company.
